Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil and Naval Targets 1,100 km from Border.
Attacks on Key Russian Infrastructure
According to UATV: On June 3, Ukraine’s defense forces launched strikes against critical Russian assets, including the St. Petersburg oil terminal and the Kronstadt naval base. The St. Petersburg facility is the largest Baltic-region hub for transshipping petroleum products. The distance from Ukraine’s state border to this site is roughly 1,100 kilometers.
Kronstadt serves as the primary homeport for Russia’s Baltic Fleet. A separate strike hit a weapons manufacturing plant in the Tambov region, located nearly 600 kilometers from Ukraine. Reports indicate that over the past month, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out at least 30 attacks on Russian oil infrastructure.
Ukrainian President’s Remarks
“The distance from Ukraine’s state border to this Russian oil industry facility, which fuels the war, is about 1,100 km.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
He also noted that “purely military objectives at the Kronstadt base were achieved.” These strikes highlight the growing reach of Ukrainian forces in conducting operations deep inside Russian territory.
By targeting strategically vital sites, Ukraine demonstrates an enhanced ability to hit distant military and economic infrastructure, potentially disrupting Russia’s war logistics and energy revenues. This shift in tactics may reflect a broader strategy to degrade resources that sustain Moscow’s military campaign. As the conflict continues, such long-range operations could reshape the battlefield dynamics and influence the strategies of both sides.
