St. Petersburg Oil Terminal Targeted in Overnight Attack

According to Espreso.tv: A fire broke out at the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal in the southeastern part of the city, with flames engulfing a railway tanker on the approach tracks. This incident, along with reports of downed drones, dominated events in the Leningrad Region. Such attacks on critical infrastructure highlight the escalating use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the ongoing conflict.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko issued a drone alert after 4 a.m., stating that 67 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were likely shot down over the area. The attack also targeted the port of Vysotsk in the Vyborg District of the Leningrad Region, where a Lukoil oil terminal is located. These strikes represent a significant expansion of drone warfare into regions far from the front lines.

Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed the UAV assault on the Leningrad Region, reporting that from 8:00 p.m. on July 3 to 7:00 a.m. on July 4, a total of 389 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed. The Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai stated,

“During the night, from 8:00 p.m. on July 3 to 7:00 a.m. on July 4, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 389 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.”

Udmurtia Under Threat

Meanwhile, Udmurtia's head, Alexander Brechalov, reported an attempted strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a local industrial facility. The missile was intercepted, and fortunately, there were no casualties or damage. This incident underscores the growing risks to civilian infrastructure from drone and missile attacks.

The events in the Leningrad Region and Udmurtia reflect a broader escalation in hostilities, with drones becoming a persistent threat to both military and civilian targets. Countering UAVs has emerged as a critical priority for ensuring safety across affected regions.
