Russian Strike Hits Zaporizhzhia: Six Wounded Including a Child, Museum Damaged.
What Happened in Zaporizhzhia
According to UATV: On June 30, a Russian drone attack on a residential area in Zaporizhzhia left six people injured, one of them a child. The strike caused heavy damage, affecting roughly ten apartment buildings and smashing five cars. The blast occurred in the city's historic district, home to several key architectural landmarks.
Among the damaged structures is the Novytskyi Regional Museum of Local History and Culture. At the time of the attack, clients were inside a nearby beauty salon, which added to the gravity of the situation. This incident is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where civilian areas continue to face severe risks.
“The enemy struck a residential area. All windows were blown out and roofs were damaged. That’s three buildings. This is a historic neighborhood — there are about ten historically significant buildings here that are very important to our city.”
— Oleksandr Pshenychnyi, local official
Residents were left shaken by the event. Valentyna, an eyewitness, shared her reaction: “Thank God, everyone is alive. Everyone was in shock. All in all, the damage wasn't too extensive, but it was terrifying.”
Emergency crews and municipal workers are currently on site, clearing debris and restoring utilities. However, the impact of the attack is already clear, and the city urgently needs assistance to recover.
Aftermath of the Strike
This attack highlights the continuation of military hostilities in Ukraine, despite repeated calls for peace. Targeting a residential area underscores the danger to civilians and the destruction of cultural heritage. City authorities and rescue services are working to manage the aftermath, but the situation remains tense, and local residents require support to rebuild their homes.
