The Metropolitan of Sumy and Okhtyrka of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yevlohiy, condemned the strike of the occupiers on Sumy. As a result of the enemy shelling, more than 30 people died, and over 100 were injured.
«Today, my dear brothers and sisters, we have once again witnessed the terrible lawlessness against our temples, our city, and our Ukraine. Our worship today took place amidst explosions. Russian rockets flew into the center of the city, which not only destroyed buildings but also killed people,» noted the Metropolitan of Sumy and Okhtyrka of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. At the same time, priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Vasyl Maksymyshynets, published a video of the Metropolitan's speech. Yevlohiy called Russians godless people and individuals, «who have lost faith and conscience.»
«What surprises me in this Russian war against us is that the people who call themselves believers in Russia, who should have been the first to condemn this bloodshed, not only did not condemn it, but called this war sacred. What a disgrace to these archpriests and priests. We categorically condemn this latest crime of the Russian godless people, unbelieving individuals, for believers do not act this way. These are people who have lost faith, who have lost conscience,» said Yevlohiy in Russian. At the same time, the head of the Moscow church in Ukraine, Metropolitan Onufriy, did not respond to the attack of the occupiers. As reported in the Sumy diocese, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord, where Metropolitan Yevlohiy led the Liturgy, was damaged by the Russian strike. The blast wave damaged windows and shattered glass in the sanctuary. It should be noted that as a result of the rocket strike by Russia on the city of Sumy, the biological brother of the Archbishop of Tulchin and Bratslav, Serhiy, was killed.

Metropolitan Yevlohiy of Sumy and Okhtyrka condemned these attacks, calling Russians godless individuals who have lost faith and conscience. The strike on the cathedral led to damaged windows and shattered glass.
