Key Security Talks Resume in Abu Dhabi: Ukraine Prepares for Second Round.
Abu Dhabi Negotiations
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine is preparing for a second round of three-party talks in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for February 4–5. This meeting follows an initial session in January where no compromises were reached. The discussions will focus on security guarantees and the situation in the Donbas region. These talks are a critical diplomatic effort to address the ongoing conflict, which has profound implications for European security.
The Ukrainian delegation will include:
- Rustem Umerov
- Kyrylo Budanov
- Sergiy Kyslytsya
- Andriy Gnatov
- Oleksandr Bevz
- David Arakhamia
The Russian delegation will be led by Igor Kostyukov. U.S. Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will also participate. The negotiations will be divided into two stages: first, a bilateral meeting with the U.S., followed by a trilateral meeting with Russia.
On the evening of February 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a bilateral agreement on security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States is already prepared. He also noted that the work of the negotiation group will be adjusted following a massive Russian missile strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on February 3. Zelenskyy expressed hope to hear what compromises the Russian side is prepared to make. The composition of the Russian delegation will remain unchanged, as emphasized by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
It is crucial that any decisions during the negotiations are based exclusively on Ukrainian legislation and international law. Andriy Sybiha
Significance of the Talks

The importance of these meetings lies in the potential to reach a compromise that could influence the future course of events in Ukraine and across Europe. Observers note that constructive dialogue between the parties could be a key factor in stabilizing the security situation and mitigating the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
