Ukraine moves closer to peace: what compromises await the country.
The peaceful situation in Ukraine is being directed in the right way, but difficult compromises still lie ahead for the country. This was stated by the head of the Financial Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danilo Hetmantsev, in an interview with Novyny.LIVE.
What Hetmantsev said about the likelihood of peace in Ukraine
He emphasized that Ukraine is ready for any meetings to achieve peace. However, according to Hetmantsev, we are faced with difficult compromises, not a quick return to the borders of 1991.
'We see that the process is moving in the right direction, we are getting closer to peace. There are real demands from Russia, not made up, but genuine. They exist in the USA. This creates a basis for agreements,' he said.
Hetmantsev stressed that the main task for the state is to ensure peace, but we should be realistic and not count on a quick restoration of the borders of 1991.
Meetings and negotiations at the international level
Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, met with the leadership of the Russian Federation in Moscow to discuss the situation in Ukraine. Later, it was confirmed that a meeting would take place between Trump and Putin, possibly a trilateral one with Zelensky's participation.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that issues of territories will be key in resolving the conflict.
Recently, Zelensky spoke with Polish Prime Minister Tusk, after which Tusk announced a possible 'truce' between Ukraine and Russia.
Efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine are already underway, but difficult compromises still await. International negotiations and meetings represent steps towards resolving the conflict, and Ukraine's role in this process is very important.
