Swedish Giraffe radar systems arrive in Ukraine

According to UATV: Ukrainian forces have taken delivery of Swedish-made Giraffe radar systems, capable of monitoring airspace and detecting targets at distances of up to 100 kilometers and altitudes of up to 20 kilometers. These systems can identify a wide range of objects, including fighter jets, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones. The introduction of these advanced radars has significantly strengthened Ukraine's ability to detect aerial threats.

Key features and advantages

A standout feature of the Giraffe radar systems is their rapid deployment time—less than 10 minutes. This allows Ukrainian troops to respond quickly to changes in the aerial situation. Additionally, the systems can detect artillery and mortar fire, improving the effectiveness of battlefield operations and command decisions.

This delivery not only bolsters Ukraine's air defense but also underscores the international support the country continues to receive in its fight for independence. It further highlights Ukraine’s commitment to modernizing its armed forces amid the ongoing conflict that began in 2014. The integration of such technology could prove decisive in future military operations and in safeguarding national security.
