Ukraine freed 150 defenders who were in captivity in Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on social media on February 5.
Among those released are representatives of various military units, including servicemen of the Navy who were held captive in Mariupol and Zaporizhia region, fighters from the Air Forces, Airborne Assault and Ground Forces, National Guard servicemen, border guards, territorial defense fighters, and police.
International partners, including the United Arab Emirates, helped in the release of the Ukrainian defenders.
Some of the guys had been in captivity for over two years. And today, for them and their loved ones, it is a day that means more than the years of waiting. It is true happiness to see them at home, alive and free.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to everyone who helped in the release of the defenders and noted that work on returning all prisoners continues.
