Ukraine and Raytheon Join Forces
According to UATV: Ukraine and the U.S.-based defense contractor Raytheon are set to jointly manufacture interceptors for the Patriot air defense system. This development emerged from a meeting on July 23 between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and company representatives. The partnership is designed to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities amid ongoing threats from aggression.
During the discussions, Zelenskyy described Raytheon as a
“very strong defense company”and noted that Ukraine has long relied on its technology to protect civilians from attacks. He expressed gratitude for the company’s willingness to elevate the collaboration to a new level, emphasizing the significance of co-producing Patriot interceptors. This joint effort marks a notable expansion of defense ties between the two sides.
Missile Production License Underway
In a related move, the United States has initiated the process of granting Ukraine a license to produce missiles for the Patriot system. Raytheon Vice President Joseph DeAntona attended the meeting, signaling the company’s serious commitment to working with Ukraine in this critical area.
The collaboration on interceptor production represents a major step in bolstering Ukraine’s defense posture amid the prolonged conflict.
