According to UATV: On July 23, Latvia's parliament, the Saeima, approved amendments to the 'Law on Support for Civilian Populations of Ukraine,' introducing a potential ban on importing certain goods from Russia and Belarus. The vote saw 66 lawmakers in favor, 8 against, and 8 abstentions.

Categories Targeted by the New Ban

Under the updated legislation, the import prohibition covers the following product categories:

• Books
• Periodicals
• Video games
• Sports equipment
• Toys
• Clothing
• Footwear

The changes also block imports of Russian and Belarusian goods routed through third countries. However, transit of such items across Latvian territory to other European Union member states will still be permitted.
