Ukraine becomes part of the new trade route from China to Europe.

Part of the cargo being transported along the Trans-Caspian international transport route (TITM), which connects China to Europe, is planned to be routed through Ukraine. This was reported by the director of commercial work and logistics of JSC 'Ukrzaliznytsia' Tymofii Murakhovskyi at a meeting of the Exporters Office.
UZ has been working on the project for six months. One of the phases of the project implementation will be the registration of the company UZ Cargo East in Kazakhstan. UZ also plans to use the ferries 'Heroes of Pleven' and 'Heroes of Shipka', which were planned to be transferred to the State Property Fund of Ukraine as non-specialized assets.
'A supervisory board meeting took place, during which the creation of a new legal entity UZ Cargo East in Kazakhstan was approved. This enterprise will operate along the middle corridor from China to Europe through Ukraine,' Murakhovskyi reported.
According to Murakhovskyi, the transportation of container trains from the Caspian ports to Baku is planned, and then from the Georgian port of Poti to Odesa. The cargo will then be delivered to Europe.
'We will not just be a rail carrier, but also a sea one. The main goal is to create a corridor that provides services to our clients from China to Europe,' noted Murakhovskyi.
The director of commercial work and logistics of UZ added that the next meeting, where this project will be discussed and representatives of UZ will be involved, will take place in two weeks in Baku.
Tymofii Murakhovskyi also noted that the project of the Transnational Transport Multimodal Corridor has the support of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The ferries will be able to transport at least two container trains a day, which will significantly increase the volume of transportation between China and Europe.
Currently, China and Europe cooperate through several main routes. One of them is the Trans-Caspian international transport route, known as the 'middle corridor'. This route passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey and serves as an alternative to the northern route through Russia. The volume of transportation through this corridor rose to 1.5 million tons in 2022, indicating its growing popularity.
