Ukrainian pilots will train on F-16s in Romania
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that Ukrainian pilots have begun training on F-16 fighters in Romania. He announced this during a conversation with Romania's Minister of National Defense Angel Tîlvăr.
The main topic of conversation was strengthening Ukraine's air defense. Umerov also noted that Ukraine will receive a new Patriot air defense system from Romanian partners. A group of Ukrainian pilots is already undergoing training in Romania, which will allow more active use of the F-16 in Ukrainian skies.
The minister also announced his upcoming visit to Romania. The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed the conversation and condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as discussed military support from Romania, including the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s.
It's worth noting that the European F-16 Training Center was recently opened in Romania, and Ukrainian pilots will be the first to have the opportunity to train there.
