This week, negotiations between Ukraine and the US will take place in New York. The special representative of Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, will meet with the Ukrainian delegation. He announced this in an interview on Fox News, as reported by FREEДОМ.
Hopes for Peace
Witkoff emphasized that the American side supports regular contacts with Russia. He expressed hope for the possibility of reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine by the end of the year.
“I will meet with the Ukrainians this week in New York. And this is a significant signal. We talk to Russia every day. I believe a bilateral meeting will take place. In my opinion, the presence of President Trump at the negotiating table is necessary to finalize the deal,” noted the special representative of the US President.
Germany's Statement
Earlier, the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, urged Putin to hold bilateral negotiations with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, as soon as possible.
