Ukraine successfully passed the Trade Policy Review at the World Trade Organization for the first Time. The Deputy Minister of Economy - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka headed the delegation that visited this review.

The preparation for the Review lasted over a year. Ukraine collaborated with government agencies, the Ministry of Economy units, and the WTO Secretariat. In December, WTO members received reports from the Secretariat and the Government of Ukraine for detailed analysis, the Ministry of Economy reported.

“We received over 400 written questions from 20 WTO members, most of which concerned trade and investment regimes. This indicates significant interest in deepening economic cooperation with Ukraine, even in the context of war. Feedback regarding the resilience of the economy, the critical role of agricultural exports in global food security, and the development of high-value-added industries is particularly important for us. WTO members also highly appreciated the progress in intellectual property protection and the fulfillment of transparency obligations,” said Deputy Minister of Economy - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

He emphasized that the successful Trade Policy Review would contribute to strengthening Ukraine's trade relations with partners.

“The provided answers to the questions, as well as additional explanations that we will send shortly, will provide WTO members with the necessary information about the opportunities and advantages of cooperation with Ukraine,” added Taras Kachka.

He also separately noted that significant achievements in economic diplomacy were reached during the WTO meeting - a joint statement by 45 WTO members condemning the destructive impact of Russian aggression on the global trade system was for the first time included in the meeting protocol. The statement became an official WTO document.
