Massive Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine: 252 Out of 273 Drones Shot Down, Some Hit Targets.
Overnight Assault on March 28
According to Novyny.live: On the night of March 28, Russian forces launched a major drone offensive against Ukraine, deploying 227 attack drones, including types such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Ukraine's air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 252 of these unmanned aerial vehicles, accounting for a substantial majority of the incoming threats.
During the assault, 21 drones managed to strike their targets across 18 separate locations. Additionally, falling debris was reported at nine sites, indicating potential infrastructure damage. After 7:00 AM, Russian forces conducted further drone strikes targeting the Odesa region and other parts of Ukraine, triggering fresh alarms among civilians.
Escalating Hostilities by Russian Troops
This attack is part of a broader pattern of aggression. On March 27, Russian forces hit an industrial facility in the Poltava district, leaving over 5,000 households without gas supply. The day before, on March 26, a thermal power plant in Kherson was struck, killing a 66-year-old female employee. These incidents highlight the persistent dangers posed to civilian life and critical infrastructure.
The March 28 drone assault underscores the intensifying conflict and the ongoing risks to Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. Despite the effectiveness of air defense systems, repeated drone strikes continue to cause damage, threatening public safety and the stability of the energy grid. As the war persists, strengthening defensive capabilities remains a top priority for Ukraine.
