Ukraine Strikes Iskander Producer in Volgograd; Zelensky Outlines Sanctions Strategy.
Ukrainian Forces Intensify Operations
According to UATV: Ukraine’s defense forces have ramped up strikes against Russian positions in Crimea, Volgograd, and other regions. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed attacks on the 'Titan-Barrikady' plant in Volgograd, a facility that manufactured launchers for Iskander-M and Topol-M missile systems. These actions are part of a broader effort to pressure Russia into diplomatic negotiations, with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducting operations aimed at ending the war. In recent weeks, Kyiv has increasingly targeted military infrastructure deep inside Russian territory, signaling a shift in operational tactics.
Key Strikes by Ukrainian Defense Forces
Among the major strikes carried out by Ukraine’s defenders were:
- Attacks on a Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun system in Feodosia;
- A strike on a car ferry near Kerch;
- Targeting command posts in the Kharkiv and Belgorod regions.
On June 27, Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo missiles hit the Titan-Barrikady facility in Volgograd. Another significant strike targeted the Vtorovo oil pipeline dispatch station in Russia’s Vladimir region, a key logistics hub for crude oil transit.
'Every Russian defense facility is a legitimate target for Ukraine’s long-range sanctions.' Volodymyr Zelensky
President Zelensky also emphasized that 'Ukrainian warriors demonstrate the strength of Ukrainian precision every day.' He stressed that 'Russia must take this war away from Ukraine — we do not want war.'
Notably, in the first five months of 2026, Russia cut oil production by 10% and mothballed around 400 wells. On the international stage, Ukraine secured assistance for airspace protection at the G7 meeting, and at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, Ukrainian and Polish manufacturers agreed to jointly produce drones. Additionally, a NATO summit is set to begin on July 7 in Ankara, reflecting continued global support for Ukraine.
The escalation of Ukrainian attacks on Russian military-support infrastructure marks a strategic shift in the conflict. According to President Zelensky, these operations are designed to push Russia toward diplomatic talks, a crucial step in seeking a peaceful resolution. At the same time, Russia’s declining oil output points to potential economic strains that could weaken its war effort. The international backing Ukraine continues to receive, including at the upcoming NATO summit, underscores global solidarity against aggression.
