Ukraine Imposes Fresh Sanctions

According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine has enacted two new sanction packages aimed at companies and individuals who back Russia's aggression and operate within its military-industrial sector. Decrees No. 587/2026 and No. 588/2026 were released on the president's official website. The first package, under Decree No. 587/2026, targets 30 legal entities and 42 individuals, including the Burevisnyk center and KAM-Engineering company.

Second Sanction Package Details

The second package, based on Decree No. 588/2026, applies to 15 individuals and 8 legal entities. Among those listed is former lawmaker Boryslav Bereza, while pro-occupation military blogger Volodymyr Romanov has also been hit with restrictions. Additionally, sanctions have been imposed on Illia Tumanov and Maria Kyselova.

For context, these measures build on a broader trend of escalating pressure. In April 2026, Ukraine had already sanctioned 26 individuals and 31 legal entities, following March 2026 sanctions that affected 130 individuals and 48 legal entities. As Vladyslav Vlasiuk noted,

“We continue to identify new, well-substantiated targets for sanctions.”
These actions highlight the Ukrainian government's intensified efforts to crack down on those enabling Russia's hostile activities.

The introduction of these sanctions underscores the Ukrainian leadership's determination to counter foreign aggression and its readiness to ramp up pressure on supporters of adversarial actions. It also reflects the ongoing strategy of applying economic and political leverage against Russia, a key component in building international backing for Ukraine. As sanctions become increasingly targeted, they could carry long-term repercussions for individuals and companies involved in military operations against Ukraine.
