Ukrainians warned about changes in IDP payments in October.
Ukraine will automatically extend the living payments for the most vulnerable categories of internally displaced persons in October 2024. This was announced by Pavlo Frolov, a Member of Parliament and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Temporary Special Commission on the Protection of IDP Rights.
The automatic extension of payments concerns displaced persons who have already been assigned aid in September or approved an application for extension. The vulnerable categories include:
- pensioners with pensions up to 9444 hryvnias,
- persons with disabilities of group I or II,
- children with disabilities under 18 years old,
- severely ill children,
- orphans and children deprived of parental care up to 23 years old,
- foster parents and adoptive parents.
Low-income persons and IDP families with an average monthly income per person not exceeding 9444 UAH are also entitled to aid but must meet certain criteria.
In case of technical problems with the automatic extension of payments, displaced persons can contact TsNAP or local social protection authorities. Other categories of IDPs, including families with children under 14 years old in combat zones or regions without offline education, families caring for a person with disabilities, large families, young children without parental accompaniment, and pregnant women from the 30th week, can apply for appointment or extension of aid.
Financial and property status, average monthly family income, or individual income, and in some cases - working age are the main criteria for terminating payments. By the end of September 2024, out of the 4.6 million officially registered IDPs, 1.2 million people received living aid. The Parliamentary TSC will work to ensure that the number of aid recipients does not decrease in 2025.
Recall, in Ukraine, there are proposals to seize funds from the accounts of IDP pensioners. We explained why this might happen.
