The 'Step Home' Program for Ukrainian Refugees in Poland: comprehensive conditions and support
The 'Step Home' program provides assistance to Ukrainian refugees in finding and renting housing in Poland. Habitat for Humanity Poland accepts applications to simplify the housing rental process. Participation in the program requires financial capacity for renting an apartment, but there are difficulties in finding one.
Step Home is an initiative of the Habitat for Humanity Poland Foundation aimed at helping refugees from Ukraine find permanent housing in Poland.
To participate in the 'Step Home' program, you must meet the following criteria:
- crossing the border after February 24, 2022;
- staying in Poland;
- willingness to rent within 12 months;
- household income (from 3,000 to 4,500 zlotys);
- belonging to a risk group for loss of housing.
Housing searches take place throughout Poland, and program participants must actively participate in it, reviewing offers and communicating with landlords and Habitat Poland. All consultations and communication are conducted remotely via email and phone.
Habitat Poland provides free support, but participants cover costs associated with renting housing themselves. Support can also be provided in selecting housing offers, instructions for independent searches, as well as co-financing real estate agent services.
During the rental process, participants receive sample contracts and can communicate with landlords via mobile phone. Insurance and assistance with organizational issues are also provided.
If you meet all the criteria, you can register for the program using a questionnaire. It is recommended to start registration 31 days before the rental date. Applications are reviewed within 7 days, but the duration of the review depends on the number of applications submitted.
Do not hesitate, the 'Step Home' program is ending, so express your interest and secure safe housing in Poland.
