Ukrainian Firm Set to Test New Ballistic Missile: What We Know About the FP-9.
Advancing Defense Technology
According to UATV: Ukrainian company Fire Point is preparing for summer trials of its new FP-9 ballistic missile, which can deliver warheads weighing up to 800 kg over a distance of 850 km. This missile is being developed alongside the European Freyja air defense system, highlighting the company's active role in defense innovation.
Field tests for the FP-9 are scheduled for autumn this year. Fire Point is also working on the Freyja air defense system, a key component in strengthening Ukraine's defensive capabilities. Last week, the company signed a memorandum with German firm Hensoldt, which will supply TRML-4D radar stations for the Freyja system.
Negotiations and Emerging Technologies
Additionally, Fire Point is in talks with two European defense companies to procure infrared seekers and radio frequency detectors, underscoring its push to integrate cutting-edge technology into its projects. Another milestone was the unveiling of the FP-1 drone at the Eurosatory-2026 exhibition, which boasts a flight range of 2,700 km.
Through these efforts, Fire Point continues to drive forward new defense technologies that could significantly enhance the capabilities of Ukraine's armed forces in the future.
Developing advanced defense systems like the FP-9 missile and the Freyja air defense network is crucial for Ukraine as it faces modern security challenges.
