Ukraine continues to maintain a stable position in the global metallurgy ranking. According to Worldsteel, the country holds the 14th position in pig iron production, although it has dropped one position in steel production.
In January-May 2024, metallurgical enterprises worldwide produced 583.28 million tons of pig iron, of which 529.78 million tons were produced by blast furnace method and 53.50 million tons by direct reduction method. This is 0.25% less than the figure for the same period last year.
China remains the leader in pig iron production, and Ukraine maintains its position in the international ranking. However, there is a slight decrease in steel production, which requires additional efforts to increase output.
