Ukrainian language to be introduced in Vienna schools: from which year classes will start.
According to ТСН: Vienna plans to expand linguistic opportunities for Ukrainian students. Starting from September 2026, the Ukrainian language may be included in the curriculum as a second foreign language in two secondary schools of the Austrian capital.
These educational institutions:
BRO (BORG 3) — Landstraßer Hauptstraße 70;
BRW (GRG 15) — Diefenbachgasse 19.
The Ukrainian language will be offered to high school students (Oberstufe) starting from the 5th grade, which corresponds to the 9th year of study.
The implementation of this initiative will depend on the number of participants: to open the courses, a sufficient number of applications must be gathered. Therefore, parents and students are encouraged to actively choose the Ukrainian language when forming their educational plans.
The introduction of the Ukrainian language into the educational environment of Vienna is an important step in supporting the linguistic heritage, cultural identity, and national identity of Ukrainians abroad.
It is reminded that a Ukrainian girl spoke about the 'traumatic experience' at a college in Great Britain. The girl was forced to leave the college after she was pressured to study the Russian language.
Previously, it was mentioned that Santa Claus would speak Ukrainian. Letters from little Ukrainians have officially been added to the post in Lapland. Now the Ukrainian language will appear in official correspondence with the wizard.
Thus, the introduction of the Ukrainian language in the educational programs of Vienna not only responds to the growing interest in this language but also emphasizes the importance of the cultural heritage of Ukrainians living in other countries. This initiative will help preserve Ukrainian identity among youth and encourage them to learn and support their native language.
