Missile and Drone Attack on Ukraine: July 13, 2023

According to UATV: During the night of July 13, 2023, Russian forces launched a coordinated aerial assault on Ukraine, deploying three Kh-59/69 guided air-to-surface missiles and 134 attack drones. The drone fleet included Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmus models, along with Parody-type decoy drones. Launch sites spanned multiple locations, including Kursk, Oryol, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as occupied territories in Donetsk, Hvardiiske, and Chauda in Crimea.

Ukraine’s air defense systems successfully intercepted all three guided missiles and 123 of the 134 drones. Despite these efforts, six attack drones struck five separate locations, with debris falling across four sites. Additionally, a follow-up aerial strike was carried out in the Odesa region, compounding the night’s threats.

Escalating Danger in Shelled Regions

Just days earlier, on July 10, 2023, an attack on the village of Berezovka in Kharkiv district left three children injured by shrapnel from shattered glass and two women suffering acute stress. These incidents highlight the perilous conditions faced by communities under relentless bombardment.

Russia’s ongoing strikes continue to fuel a humanitarian crisis across Ukraine, particularly in areas frequently targeted. While Ukrainian air defenses perform effectively, successful hits by drones and missiles still cause civilian casualties. This reality underscores the urgent need to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and ramp up international support to protect its population.
