Widespread Attacks by Russian Forces on Ukraine

According to UATV: On July 13, 2023, the Russian military carried out extensive attacks on several Ukrainian regions, targeting Zaporizhzhia and Odesa Oblast in particular. In Zaporizhzhia, six people were wounded, including a 15-year-old teenager. The strikes caused building collapses, fires, and severe damage to infrastructure.

Aftermath of the Assaults

In Zaporizhzhia, the shelling ignited fires in multi-story residential buildings, which were eventually contained across an area of 500 square meters. Windows were blown out in 11 buildings, balconies were twisted, and facades and roofs sustained damage. Local official Serhiy Lysak reported:

“The enemy attack damaged the premises of a motor transport company. Buses caught fire. Four private houses were also damaged.”

In Odesa, a drone struck the upper floors of a high-rise apartment building, injuring three men aged 58, 62, and 66. The Russian assaults also affected Chernihiv Oblast, where nearly 70,000 residents were left without electricity following the attacks.

These events occur amid an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, raising concern within the international community. Russian strikes on civilian targets continue to harm not only infrastructure but also the lives of innocent civilians.

The attacks are part of a prolonged war between Russia and Ukraine that has been ongoing for several years, resulting in numerous civilian casualties. The situation in the affected regions highlights the severe consequences for local residents, who face destruction and a lack of essential resources such as electricity. The international community remains vigilant, expressing growing concern over the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
