380 Drones Shot Down in One Night: Ukraine's Air Defense Repels Massive Russian Assault.
Russia Launches Overnight Strike on Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: On the night of March 29, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones, leading Ukrainian air defense units to destroy 380 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. The assault originated from multiple locations within the Russian Federation, including:
- Bryansk
- Kursk
- Oryol
- Millerovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk
- Gvardeyskoye
- Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea
In total, 442 attack drones were deployed, with roughly 300 of them being Shahed-type models. The strikes hit seven locations, and drone debris fell across 14 sites. Over the past week, Russian occupiers have launched more than 3,000 drones against Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This escalation highlights the intensifying use of unmanned systems in the conflict.
Widespread Aggression and Ukrainian Air Defense Effectiveness
In addition to the drones, occupying forces also targeted Ukrainian cities with 40 missiles as part of a broader campaign of aggression. Ukraine's air defense forces demonstrated high effectiveness, neutralizing a large number of enemy drones during this nighttime attack.
This assault is part of Russia's ongoing campaign against Ukraine, which has been underway since 2022.
The strong performance of Ukrainian air defense units in recent attacks reflects improvements in their ability to counter drone and missile strikes. The growing frequency of drone assaults, particularly involving Shahed models, signals a shift in Russian military tactics that could have serious implications for regional security.
