Next Phase of FP-7 Testing Underway

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point has announced it is moving into a new testing stage for its FP-7 ballistic missile, a cost-effective alternative to the U.S.-made ATACMS. The missile has already completed its maiden flight, and the team now intends to evaluate its performance under real combat conditions. With a range of up to 300 km, the FP-7 is positioned as a competitive option in the ballistic missile market.

The FP-7 costs 2 to 2.5 times less than the ATACMS, making it particularly appealing to potential buyers. This economic advantage is a key factor in weapons procurement decisions. Meanwhile, Fire Point continues to expand its ballistic missile lineup, which includes the FP-9, boasting a range of approximately 800-850 km.

Technological Progress and Expert Insights

Development of Fire Point’s ballistic missiles began in September 2025, and by November of the same year, the FP-5 was already undergoing testing and upgrades. These efforts highlight the company’s commitment to innovation and enhancing the combat capabilities of Ukraine’s armed forces.

Denys Shtilerman commented on the situation, stating: 'Russia, as I’ve said before, is a monocentric country where everything is concentrated in Moscow. A small city, like St. Petersburg. What happens in Belgorod or Kursk has no effect on the mood of the authorities and the elite. Only when their own estates are threatened will they take action.'

The upcoming FP-7 trials underscore the progress of Ukraine’s defense industry and its ability to compete on the global stage. Given the current geopolitical landscape, advancing such technologies is critical for Ukraine’s national security and for strengthening its defensive posture—an increasingly urgent priority amid rising threats from neighboring states.
