Ukrainian Prosecutors Will Work with the ICC: Details of the Agreement on Investigating War Crimes.
The government has given the green light for the deployment of Ukrainian prosecutors to the office of the International Criminal Court in Ukraine. Obviously, the main task of these deployments is to assist in the investigation of crimes committed by Russian military forces against Ukraine. Now, Ukrainian prosecutors will have the opportunity to work in sync with their colleagues from the International Criminal Court.
Terms of the Agreement and Consequences
The agreement clearly defines the conditions for the employment of Ukrainian prosecutors at the ICC and ensures their independence and legal status. This cooperation will not require additional costs from the state. According to the Rome Statute of the ICC, such an agreement will allow Ukrainian prosecutors to work permanently in the domestic office of international justice, which will undoubtedly contribute to the accumulation of evidence in criminal cases related to war crimes and human rights violations committed by Russia.
The signing of this agreement indicates a significant step for Ukraine towards ensuring justice and holding criminals accountable for their actions. It is also evidence of the joint efforts of Ukraine and the international community in supporting human rights and the international rule of law.Read also
