Two Ukrainian sailors released from pirate captivity in Equatorial Guinea.
According to ТСН: Nine crew members, including two Ukrainians, were released from pirate captivity thanks to the efforts of the ship owner and the Ukrainian embassy.
The sailors were captured by pirates on December 3, 2025, when they attacked a Portuguese vessel in the waters of Equatorial Guinea. Since the capture, Ukrainian diplomats have been working together with representatives of the ship owner to ensure their safe return. On December 25, 2025, the hostages were successfully released.
Diplomats noted that the positive outcome was possible due to coordinated interaction and international support. After their release, the sailors underwent a medical examination, and their condition is satisfactory. They will soon return home to their families.
