Ukraine's Maritime Corridor Exports 169 Million Tons of Cargo Under Russian Attack

According to Novyny.live: Despite relentless Russian strikes on its ports and logistics, Ukraine has exported nearly 169 million tons of cargo via its maritime corridor since September 2023. Of the 168.9 million tons shipped, over 100 million tons consisted of grain crops. This corridor has become a vital lifeline for the nation's economy and global food supplies.

Russia has been attacking Ukraine's civilian and critical infrastructure for four consecutive years. Notably, between December 2, 2025, and January 12, 2026, approximately 10% of all damage to port and logistics infrastructure recorded since 2022 occurred. This highlights the severe challenges facing Ukrainian maritime exports.

The Critical Role of Sea Logistics

More than 40% of the total cargo volume transported via the maritime corridor was moved in 2025 alone. These figures underscore the crucial importance of sea logistics for Ukraine's economy, even under wartime conditions. As Oleksiy Kuleba noted:

'Behind every number in this statistic are people — port workers, logisticians, sailors, dispatchers, engineers, and repair crews.' Oleksiy Kuleba

This demonstrates that despite the difficult circumstances, Ukrainian specialists continue to perform their duties, ensuring the export of strategically vital cargo.

The successful export of goods through Ukraine's maritime corridor, despite military threats, underscores the resilience of the Ukrainian economy and the importance of sea routes for the country's and the region's food security stability. This data also points to the necessity of further protecting port infrastructure and investing in its restoration to support economic development even under challenging conditions. Maintaining the operation of maritime routes is critically important not only for Ukraine but also for the global grain market, as the country is one of the largest exporters of agricultural products.
