Ukraine's Postal Service to Offer Free International Returns Starting 2026

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's national postal service, Ukrposhta, will begin offering free returns for international parcels from February 10, 2026. This new policy applies to items sent abroad that are not received by the addressee. Previously, this return service cost between 30 and 100 US dollars (approximately 1,284 to 4,282 Ukrainian hryvnias). This move is a significant change for a key state-owned enterprise in a country seeking deeper economic integration with global markets.

According to Ukrposhta, returns will be free of charge in specific situations: if the recipient fails to collect the parcel, formally refuses delivery, or if delivery fails for reasons beyond the sender's control. This means senders will avoid additional costs for retrieving their shipments under these circumstances.

“Previously, reverse logistics could cost an exporter an average of 30 to 100 dollars,” emphasized Ukrposhta.

The introduction of free returns represents a major step in improving customer service and increasing the accessibility of international shipping options. This change is expected to positively impact export-oriented businesses by reducing the financial risks associated with the return of undelivered goods.

Enhanced Prospects for Ukrainian Exporters

The new free return policy creates fresh opportunities for Ukrainian exporters, allowing them to lower logistics costs and enhance the competitiveness of their products on the international stage. It is also likely to boost the development of e-commerce, as reduced financial risk for returns can encourage consumer confidence and stimulate more cross-border purchases.
