Intercity Service Halted Due to Power Grid Strain

According to Novyny.live: Ukrzaliznytsia has announced a temporary suspension of its Intercity train service on the Kyiv–Kharkiv route, attributing the move to ongoing disruptions in the country’s electricity supply. The state railway operator expects the line to Kharkiv to be fully operational again by the end of March. This decision was forced by persistent challenges affecting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which have made it difficult to maintain the high-speed service without interruption.

Alternative Routes and Service Adjustments

The restriction applies specifically to Intercity trains running as far as Poltava, meaning passengers will face longer and less direct journeys. To help travelers reach Kharkiv, Ukrzaliznytsia is offering connecting services that allow passengers to complete their trips via alternative routes. In light of these changes, the company also reminds customers that its car-carrying trains remain available, providing a useful option for those who need to bring their vehicles along.

It is worth noting that the price of bedding kits has risen from 80 hryvnias to 95 hryvnias. This increase is part of a broader adjustment to the new realities created by the shifting energy landscape. Ukrzaliznytsia continues working to restore regular service and improve the passenger experience, including through repair work and enhanced security measures.

The temporary Intercity cutbacks highlight the difficulties Ukraine’s transport network faces amid the energy crisis. By rolling out alternative routes and supplementary services, the railway operator is striving to minimize inconvenience for travelers.
