Ukrzaliznytsia to Attract Large-Scale Funding from EBRD: Project Details.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is providing financing for 'Ukrzaliznytsia'
JSC 'Ukrzaliznytsia' will receive 480 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the purchase of electric locomotives and the construction of a distributed electricity generation network. This was announced by Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community and Territorial Development.
Under the loan agreements, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' will receive a record amount of funding from the EBRD. The first project involves updating the fleet of electric locomotives, but the existing ones are no longer in operation. The EBRD will provide a loan of up to 300 million euros for the purchase of dual-powered electric locomotives.
The second project concerns ensuring reliable electricity supply for electric locomotives. Kuleba noted that considering threats from enemies, it is necessary to decentralize electricity generation and bring it closer to the consumer. It is planned to build gas-powered electricity generation with a capacity of up to 270 MW near the key substations of the company. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' intends to use this generation for its own needs and the needs of critical infrastructure. The EBRD will allocate a loan of up to 180 million euros for this project.
