According to ТСН: The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, made an important statement that Ukraine is entering the fourth winter of war amid a critical situation in the country's energy system. He accused the Kremlin of war crimes and called for real security guarantees for Kyiv.

As the chancellor noted, Ukraine is 'on the brink of a humanitarian energy crisis.' Merz emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of ceasefire. On the contrary, he has ordered serious attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, and the chancellor directly accused the Russian leadership of war crimes.

Threat of humanitarian catastrophe

Merz stressed that these strikes aim to destabilize the lives of civilians during winter, creating conditions for a major humanitarian catastrophe.

The need for security guarantees

The German chancellor also noted that Berlin seeks an end to the war, but under certain conditions. He believes that sustainable peace is only possible if Ukraine receives 'real security guarantees' from the U.S. and Europe. Without such guarantees, any ceasefire will lack a lasting basis.

Possible European involvement in ensuring peace

Additionally, it has become known that the participation of the Bundeswehr in supporting a potential peace agreement is being discussed in Germany.

Diplomatic sources from Brussels reported that Europe is ready to send troops to Ukraine. The total number of troops may reach 15 thousand individuals. France and the United Kingdom expressed their willingness to participate in monitoring the ceasefire, even without a UN or EU mandate if invited by Ukraine.

Thus, Chancellor Merz's words underscore the seriousness of the situation in Ukraine and the importance of international support to ensure stability in the region. Security guarantees from the West could be key to establishing lasting peace, while tensions remain high due to Russia's actions.
