Ruben Amorim on the future at Manchester United: My position will become impossible without victories.
The pressure on Ruben Amorim is growing
According to The Sun: Ruben Amorim admits that his position as coach of Manchester United will become 'impossible' if he does not start achieving victories soon.
Under pressure, the Portuguese coach is preparing for a crucial home match against Premier League newcomers Sunderland. United currently sits in 14th place in the table, having lost three out of six matches this season.
GettyClub sources maintain that Amorim has support, and no replacement is planned for now. However, the club is monitoring potential candidates, as under the Portuguese's leadership the team has achieved only nine victories in 11 months.
“I'm not worried about it, and no one here is naive. We understand that we need results to continue the project,”
— said Amorim.
After losing 3-1 to Brentford last week, Amorim has presided over 33 matches, accumulating only 34 points. Nevertheless, the former Sporting coach noted that his future is a 'board decision', indicating that he does not plan to leave the club voluntarily.
A victory is necessary
Amorim hopes his team can demonstrate their capabilities on the field and secure a much-needed win before October, when the international window usually arrives, which is challenging for coaches facing criticism.
He also does not intend to change his proven 3-4-3 scheme.
“This is not the time for talk, it's time for action,”
— he emphasized.
“My biggest problem is getting my players to believe that our issue lies within the system. That frustrates me.”
“We need to play the same way, with the same enthusiasm and intensity. If we do that, the system doesn't matter,”
“You fear losing your job when the bills need to be paid. I don't feel that. I just want to carry on,”
— Amorim summarized.
United players will take the field wearing black armbands and observe a minute of silence before the match in memory of the victims of the attack on the synagogue in Manchester this week.
Amidst the growing pressure on Ruben Amorim, it's important to note that his next match could be critical for the future of his career at Manchester United. The team is in a difficult situation in the table, so a victory against Sunderland could be not only necessary but also decisive for his position. The circumstances surrounding the club now indicate significant tension around the team and its coach. Read also
