Ukraine Extends Subsidized Gas Pricing for Heating and Public Sector Through 2026.
Gas Market Special Duties Extended
According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian government has extended special regulatory duties in the gas market for district heating companies and state-funded institutions until September 30, 2026. This measure is designed to ensure a stable gas supply for these consumer groups, which require support amidst ongoing economic and security challenges. This policy is a key part of the government's strategy to shield essential public services from volatile energy prices.
Under the new terms, district heating enterprises will receive gas at fixed, subsidized rates, providing critical operational support. The price for thermal energy producers is set at 7,420 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters (including VAT). For state-funded organizations, the gas price will be higher at 16,390 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters (including VAT).
Measures to Ensure Energy Stability
Additionally, the government has increased the fixed gas allocation for March by up to 10% for household and public institution needs. This decision aims to bolster the stability of energy resource supplies and support socially vital sectors.
Government representative Yuliia Svyrydenko stated: 'Heating enterprises will continue to receive natural gas at fixed prices (for household and state institution needs), not market prices.'
The extension of special gas market duties and the establishment of fixed prices are therefore significant steps toward ensuring Ukraine's energy stability for the coming years.
This policy underscores the government's commitment to supporting socially critical economic sectors that depend on a stable energy supply. By easing the financial burden on district heating companies and public institutions, the measure aims to enhance the country's overall energy security, particularly in preparation for periods of higher seasonal demand.
