The government prepares to replace the minimum subsistence level: what it means for Ukrainians.
Reform of social benefits in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is developing a new reform of the social benefit system. It involves replacing the minimum subsistence level with a new 'basic value'. People whose income is below this value will be entitled to state assistance. A package of bills has already been prepared and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, and it is expected to take effect at the beginning of the new year.
According to 'Hvylya', this decision marks an important step towards overcoming social problems in the country. Minister Denis Ulyutin believes that the minimum subsistence level no longer meets the real needs of citizens.
Today's minimum subsistence level for non-working individuals is 2361 hryvnias and serves as the basis for determining the minimum pension.
The new system of social benefits is aimed at providing adequate support to the most vulnerable categories of the population. The introduction of the basic value is intended to avoid the negative consequences associated with the minimum subsistence level and ensure a fairer distribution of social assistance.
This reform is an important step towards improving social security in Ukraine, especially for those who need it most. The changes could significantly impact the living standards of many Ukrainians, providing them with the necessary financial support in difficult times.
