The government allocated 16 billion for Ukrzaliznytsia: what the funds will be spent on.
According to inkorr.com: The government of Ukraine allocated about 16 billion hryvnias to stabilize the financial situation of the Ukrainian railway operator. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during a press conference.
According to the Prime Minister, all these funds will go to cover the difference between the ticket prices and their cost. 'The total amount of 16 billion is just an attempt to avoid losses and maintain stability in the passenger transportation sector,' noted Svyrydenko.
She also emphasized that the Ukrainian railway is experiencing difficulties due to a decrease in the volume of freight transport, particularly metallurgical products and coal. Although passenger transport brings significant profit, overall costs still exceed revenues. The state has already provided partial compensation for the difference, however, Ukrzaliznytsia needs to find effective solutions to optimize costs and comprehensively address its financial problems.
This step by the government indicates the seriousness of the situation in the industry and the urgent need for measures to support stability in the passenger transportation system. In light of the ongoing market changes and difficult economic conditions, the importance of such financial injections only grows, posing new challenges for the leadership of Ukrzaliznytsia in seeking effective solutions.
