Usyk may lose WBO title: promoter revealed details of negotiations.
Usyk, the undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division, may lose the WBO title due to injury. The Ukrainian boxer was given 30 days to agree on a fight with Joseph Parker, but no agreements have taken place yet.
Promoter of Parker Frank Warren stated that Usyk's team requested to postpone the title defense due to the injury.
Usyk requests a delay
Warren's comments suggest that Usyk is asking for additional time to recover. This was unexpected for him, but Usyk reached out to Parker's team with such a request.
Parker will fight for the title if Usyk cannot step into the ring. This will be determined after the match between Moses Itauma and Dillian Whyte, where the winner will become the No. 1 contender.
Usyk's injury seems surprising, as he was recently active in training and playing football.
In other news, gymnast Liliya Podkopayeva celebrates her 47th birthday, athlete Nikola Olislagers is preparing for a new record, and footballer Illya Zabarnyi showed pride in his homeland.
Usyk may lose the WBO title due to injury, but no decision has been made yet. The Ukrainian boxer has been given additional time to recover before a potential fight against Parker.
