According to ТСН: On Tuesday night, the Estonian police received a call to the government quarter in Tallinn. At 01:45, law enforcement was informed about the appearance of the letter 'Z' on the column of the Riigikogu (the Estonian parliament), which has become a symbol of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Detention at the scene

Police quickly arrived at the scene and detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 32-year-old citizen of Estonia. As reported by the operational leader of the Põhja Prefecture, Kadri Ann Salla, this man is well known to law enforcement.

‘The man is familiar to the police and has repeatedly faced penalties for the same act,’ she clarified.

Penalties for supporting aggression

Proceedings have been initiated against the vandal under the Penal Code, which provides for liability for supporting and justifying international crimes.

After the incident, patrol officers checked other government institutions and foreign embassies in Tallinn to ensure that this was an isolated action. No other prohibited symbols were found.

The inscription on the parliament column was initially covered and then painted over with white paint by municipal services.

Estonia has also issued a warning about possible provocations from Putin's 'little green men' at its border. The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry warned the Kremlin against actions that could threaten the country's security.

Estonia demonstrates determination in combating manifestations of aggression and protecting its territorial integrity. Such incidents underscore the importance of supporting a peaceful society amid rising tensions in the region. Law enforcement continues to monitor the situation to prevent possible provocations in the future.
