The leopard injured a zoo employee in Odesa

An incident occurred at the Odesa zoo, during which a leopard attacked a worker who was in the enclosure while cleaning. To save the injured person, another worker rushed to help, but he himself fell into a trap. The intervention of the police was needed to prevent the tragedy, as they were forced to use weapons to neutralize the leopard. The employee who was injured in the attack was immediately hospitalized with multiple injuries. Authorities and police are investigating this incident to establish all the circumstances.

Increase in cases of animal cruelty

In total, since 2015, 1,599 criminal proceedings have been initiated. The introduction of new fines in 2018 led to an increase in cases of animal cruelty. In 2021, penalties were strengthened, but due to the war, there was no significant increase in proceedings and sentences.
