Installation of Stalin's monument in Russia according to public wishes

The Governor of Vologda Oblast, Russian Federation, Georgy Filimonov, reported that a monument to Joseph Stalin is planned to be installed in Vologda, as it is a public wish. The monument will be located on the territory of the house-museum where Stalin lived in exile in 1911-1912. Additionally, the authorities also plan to install a monument to Ivan the Terrible.

Currently, 110 monuments to Stalin have already been erected in Russia, most of which appeared after the occupation of Crimea in 2014. However, this action has caused public debates since Stalin is associated with numerous crimes against humanity.

The installation of the monument became part of actions aimed at honoring the memory of the victims of the totalitarian regime. However, many critics believe that it is an unjustified veneration of a person responsible for tragic events in history.

These events reflect the contradictions in Russian society regarding the legacy of the Soviet period, where evaluations of historical figures and events cause different views and opinions.
