According to ТСН: In the near future, the Defense Forces will be able to carry out the de-occupation of Kupiansk.

This was reported by the commander of the 429th separate drone regiment 'Achilles' Yuriy Fedenko.

Situation in Vovchansk and Kupiansk

According to the military, the enemy is actively operating in Vovchansk. Fedenko noted that the Russians seek to fully control the city and advance further, bypassing Vovchansk from the flanks to create a buffer that complicates the Defense Forces' return to the city.

The situation in Kupiansk is also concerning. 'We have a left-bank foothold that the Defense Forces are actively holding – this is Kupiansk-Left Bank, Kupiansk-Junction. The enemy has intended to fully occupy this part for over a year and push the Defense Forces into the Oskil River. As a result, the enemy is constantly attempting to breach our defenses,' he said.

State of drone application

Fedenko also noted that this is one of the most challenging periods for the use of drones. If drone efficacy decreases, it means it's time to deploy lightly armored and armored vehicles. This hinders the Defense Forces from responding in a timely manner if the Russians advance in a column.

'Now active assault actions are underway, and the enemy is intensively using lightly armored and armored vehicles. However, there is no success. Along Kupiansk-Right Bank, the Defense Forces continue efforts to drive the enemy out of the city, including its diversionary groups. This is successful because the enemy is blocked on the northern outskirts and cannot infiltrate into the city or ensure logistics for its units. All supply occurs solely by air. Therefore, I believe that in the foreseeable future, with the support of the Ukrainian people, we will be able to achieve the objective of fully de-occupying the city of Kupiansk…' concluded Yuriy Fedenko.

It should be noted that Russian dictator Putin claimed full control of Kupiansk and Vovchansk. However, the commander-in-chief Syrski spoke about who actually controls Kupiansk and Pokrovsk.

Also, President Zelensky visited the city on December 12 and recorded a video address confirming that Kupiansk is not occupied. Zelensky emphasized that this visit strengthened Kyiv's positions in negotiations.

The situation at the front raises many questions, but the containment of the enemy and the struggle for control over Kupiansk continue. The experience gained in these areas is crucial for further strategic plans of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Victory in this part may become an important step towards restoring control over the occupied territories.
