Ukraine is preparing for the implementation of a new high-speed Wi-Fi technology.
Ukraine supported the implementation of the Wi-Fi 6E standard
The National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum, and Postal Services (NCEC) supported the implementation of the new Wi-Fi 6E standard in Ukraine. The agency reports this on Facebook.
“Proposals for opening the 6 GHz band for the new standard were agreed upon at the NCEC Meeting and the Ministry of Digital Transformation is suggested to make the appropriate changes to the Radio Frequency Allocation and Usage Plan in Ukraine”, the report says.
The new Wi-Fi 6E standard will provide:
- an increase in throughput for Wi-Fi networks (480 MHz of additional spectrum), which means higher speed, lower latency, and the simultaneous transmission of much larger volumes of information for Wi-Fi users;
- harmonization of radio frequency spectrum usage for Wi-Fi radio technology with the EU;
- the supply of modern radio equipment to Ukraine.
The conditions for applying the new Wi-Fi 6E radio equipment standard in Ukraine will be similar to the European ones - based on general authorization without assigning a radio frequency.
Let us remind you that Internet providers are massively warning about tariff increases. In particular, this is related to the transition to the general taxation system, which many medium and small companies in this market were avoiding. Some providers have already changed the cost of services, while others are just beginning to prepare their clients for this. “Glavkom” analyzed what is happening with internet prices and how entrepreneurs-optimizers themselves are reacting to the initiative to equalize tax rules in one market.
By the way, at the end of July, “Glavkom” published an opinion column by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev “The 'Gray' Internet market. Time to wake up”. The publication caused a lot of noise. The politician criticized some fixed internet providers, who, hiding behind the facade of Sole Proprietorships and using the simplified taxation system, cause damage to the state. The amount of these losses has already been calculated by independent analysts of the Growford Institute. According to the study published on September 3, the elimination of the mentioned optimization schemes under a conservative scenario can provide an additional 1.6 billion UAH in tax revenue from providers, and according to some estimates - 3 billion UAH.
