The law on increasing the excise tax on cigarettes in Ukraine has been adopted
The Verkhovna Rada has passed bill No. 11090 on the increase of excise tax on tobacco products, reported Yaroslav Zheleznyak, deputy chairman of the tax committee.
According to the law, the price of a pack of cigarettes will increase by about 40 hryvnias next year, but the amount of excise taxes may be even higher in the future. Excises will be tied to the euro and will gradually increase in accordance with the minimum requirements of the EU.
The IMF and the European Commission supported the government's position on the taxation of tobacco products.
