The Ministry of Education will increase scholarships: how much students will receive from 2025.
The Ministry of Education of Ukraine plans to implement national scholarships and revise the amounts of scholarships for students studying under state orders. Starting from September 1, 2025, the amounts of academic scholarships will also increase.
How they plan to recalculate scholarships
'The academic scholarship is about 2,100 UAH. The increased scholarship reaches almost 3,000. This is, of course, not enough. And we understand that scholarship support needs to be increased,' said former Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vynnytsky in an interview with .
Vynnytsky explained that a draft law regarding national scholarships, which would correspond to the minimum wage, and increasing scholarships for students studying under state orders is being considered in the Verkhovna Rada.
Which scholarships will increase this year
From September 1, 2025, the amounts of academic scholarships from the President of Ukraine will increase. The new amounts are mentioned or proposed by Oleksiy Goncharenko in his message.
- students of vocational institutions — 6,320 UAH;
- students of colleges and technical schools — 7,600 UAH;
- students of higher educational institutions — 10,000 UAH;
- graduate students — 23,700 UAH.
The deputy emphasized that these changes should only apply to presidential academic scholarships.
What scholarships Ukrainian students receive
Students of Ukrainian higher educational institutions and vocational pre-higher education can receive or expect various types of scholarships:
- academic;
- social;
- presidential;
- scholarships from the government and parliament.
The conditions for the appointment and payment of scholarships are established by a separate resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
It should be noted that Ukrainian students also have access to scholarships in Poland and conditions for losing social scholarships in Ukraine.
The plans to implement new national scholarships and increase the amounts of academic scholarships in Ukraine indicate certain changes in the scholarship support system for students. Additional opportunities for financial assistance make education more accessible for the youth, which can positively affect their learning and development. These steps will also promote an increase in students' motivation for successful study and achieving their own career goals.Read also
