New Labor Code: Ukrainians Will Receive an Additional 4 Days of Vacation Annually.
Adoption of the New Labor Code
According to ТСН: The adoption of the new Labor Code aims to adapt Ukrainian labor legislation to European standards, particularly by introducing an additional four days of paid vacation per year.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Daria Marchak during the telethon 'Unified News.'
'The current labor legislation defines 24 calendar days of vacation per year. However, European standards — and the draft Labor Code is a very important Euro-integration project — stipulate that an employee should have 28 days of paid vacation. Thus, the Code brings us closer to European standards, guaranteeing employees an additional 4 days of vacation per year,' said Marchak.
Marchak also noted that the project will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, after which voting will take place in the first and second readings.
She added that the new Labor Code will facilitate the alignment of Ukrainian labor legislation with European standards, particularly through the provision of additional paid vacation days for employees.
Moreover, Marchak explained that after the adoption and entry into force of the new Labor Code, there will be no need to re-conclude existing labor contracts. Employers who have not yet formalized labor relations properly will be given a year to document them in writing, including in electronic form.
It is also worth noting that it was previously announced about the Cabinet of Ministers' adoption of the draft new Labor Code of Ukraine, which is set to replace the Soviet norms of 1971.
The new Labor Code will be an important step toward reforming labor legislation in Ukraine, contributing to the creation of more comfortable working conditions for Ukrainians. It is expected that the submission of this code to the Verkhovna Rada will be the next stage in its implementation, and changes in labor relations may significantly impact the labor market in the country.Read also
