The single state register of pets has started operating in Ukraine.
The Government of Ukraine has begun work on the launch of the Unified State Register of Pets, which will help combat the spread of dangerous diseases and make Ukrainian animal legislation compatible with European standards. This information was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
What is interesting in the pet register?
The register will store data on cats, dogs, and ferrets:
- the name and description of the animal,
- information about vaccination and bio-sterilization,
- contact details of owners or keepers,
- other data important for the animal's health.
This register will allow the government to collect and analyze current data on the number of pets, their health status, and vaccination.
The state will receive real data for the first Time about the number of pets and will be able to monitor their vaccination status. Such information is very important for preventing the spread of dangerous infections, such as rabies. The register will also facilitate the recovery of lost documents, the search for registered animals, and travel with them across Ukraine. - explained Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Denis Bashlyk.
The deputy minister urged all veterinarians to join the project, as their involvement is key to the success of this initiative.
How to register?
The register will be launched in two stages. In the first stage, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will focus on involving veterinary clinics and doctors in working with the platform. Training webinars will be held for state and private veterinarians, and technical support will be available via phone and chat.
To authorize in the register, state and private veterinary institutions need to submit an application to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection. The head of the veterinary institution fills out an application in the register cabinet within 30 minutes.
The State Service will check the application data within 10 working days, approve or reject the application, and notify the applicant of the outcome via email. After authorization confirmation, the head of the veterinary institution will be able to enter data about the veterinarians who will be directly involved in registering the animals in the register. Then, veterinarians will be able to fill in their data in their cabinet.
After successful authorization, the veterinary institution will be ready to start registering pets during the official launch of the second stage of the register.
Full information about the register, authorization of veterinary institutions, and registration of pets can be found on the official website vet.pet.gov.ua.
Authorization of veterinary institutions and doctors in the register is possible only through the state interface. However, veterinary clinics that already use the veterinary information systems-partners of the project will be able to register animals directly through these platforms after successful authorization.
