Testing of drones on fiber optic completed in Ukraine.
Ukraine has successfully completed tests of new drones with fiber optic communication and is approaching NATO code acquisition, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The list of drones that have passed tests includes the 'Black Widow web 10' project - a kamikaze drone on fiber optics. This drone can cover a distance of over 5 km and carry up to 2 kg of useful cargo. Developers received NATO codes not only for this drone but also for the entire line of drones that use fiber optic communication.
Colonel Vitaliy Dobriansky, head of the Colonel's Innovation Management Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commented on the achievement and noted that successful resistance to enemy electronic warfare means was provided thanks to the use of drones.
It was noted that this is not just new weaponry but opens up new opportunities for further research and development in the field of fiber optic communication.
Robotization and drone technologies have become new areas of development. FPV drones using this technology are becoming a serious problem for the enemy on the battle line, reported from the General Staff.
As part of the 'Ramstein' format, the 'drone coalition' and 'naval coalition' will begin supplying Ukraine with 'tens of thousands' of drones of various types starting in January 2025, said British Deputy Defence Minister Luke Pollard. He also stated that the UK government will continue to support Ukraine on its path to NATO membership. In addition, a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $286 million will include $233 million provided by the International Fund for Ukraine, managed by the UK.
The Ministry of Defence has also allocated an additional 1.89 billion UAH for the purchase of drones for combat brigades. Of this amount, 55% will be spent on Mavic drones with night vision, and 18% on the purchase of FPV kamikaze drones.
