Prices for a key product in Ukraine are set to rise — what is the reason.
Ukrainians can prepare for the price of oil to rise slightly as early as August. A popular product for many dishes may become more expensive due to rising prices for oilseeds caused by intense exports.
Why oil will become more expensive
The head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry, Ivan Tomych, believes that although prices for oil in the domestic market may rise during the conservation season in August due to increased demand, significant price hikes should not be expected.
'Will the price of oil rise in the domestic market? Yes, but I don't think it will be substantial. During the conservation season — in August, when there will be high demand among the population for oil, the price may fluctuate within a few hryvnias. But there won't be a significant price increase.'
What else to know
Experts warn that vegetables for the 'borsch set' and potatoes may remain stable at least until fall. However, due to a shortage of labor in the vegetable harvesting market, a gradual increase in prices can be expected by the end of the year.
In addition to oil, another price increase for an important product can be expected in 2025 due to labor issues in agriculture. This may affect the rise in prices for vegetables and other products.
The possible price change for oil mentioned in the news refers to the domestic market in Ukraine due to rising prices for oilseeds caused by active exports. It is predicted that the increase will not be significant, but it is worth being prepared for a slight price hike in August. Other factors, such as the labor shortage in the agriculture sector, which may lead to higher prices for vegetables and other products in the future, should also be considered.
