Ban on the import of certain cars to Ukraine
Starting from January 1, a ban on the import of certain popular cars was introduced in Ukraine, reports mauto.
From the beginning of 2025, stricter requirements have come into effect for car imports in the country. The main change concerns environmental standards - now only cars that meet the Euro-6 standard and were released after 2015 can be imported.
Previously, the requirements were less strict - cars with Euro-2 standard and above, meaning those produced after 1996, were allowed. These new rules were supposed to come into force earlier, but were postponed several times due to the war situation in the country.
The new rules apply to new and used vehicles of the following types:
- semi-trailer trucks;
- buses;
- trucks;
- special vehicles (cranes, tow trucks, etc.);
- new passenger cars that are registered for the first Time.
There are several exceptions:
- new passenger cars imported or produced in Ukraine before December 31, 2024;
- 'eurobleak' and electric cars;
- some cars imported to Ukraine as humanitarian aid or for the needs of the Armed Forces.
Drivers were previously reminded about the necessary list of items in each car.
